If you want to add a little extra security to your home or business, but
don't want to go through the expense and mess of installing wiring, this
4-Channel Wireless Video Security Monitor may be your solution.
This portable digital wireless monitoring system uses encrypted
technology to deliver secure, quality video, and the best part is you
can take the monitor portion with you as your roam around your house or
business. This wireless camera and monitor like others of
its kind uses the 2.4GHz frequency range for transmission and receiving.
There can be a few problems for systems that use this range. One is that
this is the same frequency range that wireless computer networks use so
there can be interference. And second, if the devices are analog, other
devices in that range may be able to intercept the signal. So people
nearby may be able to see what's happening by your camera
The 4-Channel Wireless Video Security Monitor solves that problem not
only by using a digital signal, but by using FHSS technology (Frequency
Hopping Spread Spectrum). Essentially that means your camera's signal is
chopped up into tiny segments, or packets, and distributed over a wide
band of frequencies in the 2.4GHz range. Since transmission occurs only
on a minuscule section of these frequencies at any given time, the
signal being transmitted does not suffer from greatly reduced signal
degradation and also avoids blocked paths and other devices with
competing signals. Also, the strength of the signal being transmitted is
much higher then the a comparative analog transmission signal allowed by
wireless authorities around the globe.
Using FHSS requires the camera and receiver to be "paired." This
means that even if your neighbor has the identical monitor, he or she
cannot see what's happening on your camera. When you purchase the
system, the devices are already paired, but if you add cameras, you will
have to go through the pairing procedure before they will work with your
monitor.
How far the camera will transmit depends on a number of factors like
type of solid objects the signal will pass through such as walls and
doors, plus any other interference encountered. In ideal circumstances,
this wireless camera could transmit a video signal up to 450 feet. Your
range will likely be lower
Here are some of the best features of this video system:
SCAN Button – When the Scan button is pressed, the LCD Screen
is turned off and the system continuously scans all available cameras
while the monitor is dark.
The SCAN feature can be used for the following two reasons:
- To prevent the user from being disturbed by the bright LCD
screen (i.e. when sleeping).
- To conserve battery power. If audio is detected above the preset
audio trigger level on the camera(s), the Receiver will beep and
display the triggered camera. The camera receiver will return to
Scan mode several seconds after the Alarm has completed.
Camera Night Light – The camera has a night light that can be
turned on to light up the area around the camera.
Monitor Night Light Button – The monitor has a button that
lets you turn on the camera night light on from your remote application.
If you use this as a baby monitor you may be able to calm your baby down
by turning the light on (the button works for the camera currently being
displayed on the LCD Screen).
Alarm +/- Button – You can press this button increase or
decrease the sensitivity of the audio alarm.
Receiver A/V Out Port (Optional Use) – Connect the included
A/V Cable to view video from the receiver on a TV or Monitor, or record
to a DVD Recorder or VCR. Alternatively, use the A/V Out port on the
Receiver Cradle.
Receiver Cradle A/V Out Port – Connect the included A/V Cable
to view the receiver picture (when docked) on a TV or Monitor, or record
to a DVD Recorder or VCR. (NOTE: The power cable needs to be connected
for this feature to work. Only one A/V out port should be used at a
time).
Camera Sound Alarm Trigger – Adjust the Trigger to set the
Sound Alarm sensitivity. The Receiver will beep to alert the user when
the sound is above a preset sound level. Adjust the side wheel to
Increase or Decrease the level.
Night Vision – This camera has built-in IR LEDs,
which provides the camera with the ability to view images in no/low
light conditions.
