These units can be used indoors or outdoors. You can put one unit inside the
house and use the other to
speak
with visitors before opening the door. Visitors contact you by
pressing the button on the outdoor intercom. You can also pair these
units with any other
WireFree Intercom as well.
When a visitor arrives, they press the TALK button. All intercom
units in your network receive a tone and the person can start
speaking. When somebody responds by
holding down the TALK button on a different intercom unit, a secure
channel is created and other units will not hear the conversation,
making your conversation private. Or you can set up a network-wide
Conference mode so everyone can talk and listen! While this unit is weatherproof, it can also be used for indoor applications as well. Use
is as an emergency panic button for an
elderly or disabled person
living in your home. A single press of its large button can summon
help. Note that the unit does not sound an alarm, only voice messages can be sent.
This outdoor intercom can be used anywhere you would use
the
WireFree Portable indoor intercom. It can make or receive pages/calls from
other intercom units. If you're using it on an outside door and you
do not want it to receive pages from other units, simply flip an
internal switch. Then it will change to where it can only hear a
conversation when someone answers a page from it (after its button is
pressed). You can use these in sets of two even without having any other
WireFree intercom. If you use them without any other intercom, you'll lose a couple of features that the WireFree portable units
have such as the channel selection and volume control
(there is a switch inside this intercom to make it louder). But you'll appreciate
how easy this WireFree Outdoor Intercom is to use. In fact, if you
don't need the features of the portable units, you can use all outdoor
intercoms together without having any other type of
intercom in your system. Since the WireFree Outdoor Intercom is meant for wall mount,
there is one easy modification we recommend so it can be used for
table top mount. Just go to your local hardware store and ask for
the self-adhesive vinyl bumpers that are typically used for
keeping your cabinet doors quiet when closing them. Then just stick
five of them on the bottom of the WireFree Outdoor Intercom and now you
can set it anywhere without having it slide around. If you need a commercial grade outdoor wireless intercom, click on the Wireless Callbox link to the left.
