Description

When you want to talk to visitors at your front door without getting out of your La-Z-Boy recliner, this WireFree Wireless Doorbell & Intercom unit is for you.

WireFree Wireless Doorbell and Intercom

When someone presses Call button on the WireFree Wireless Doorbell and Intercom, they will hear a two-tone doorbell tone. A couple of seconds later, all the WireFree Portable intercoms inside the house will sound a similar doorbell tone.

You respond by pressing the Talk button on a WireFree Portable and saying "Hello" or some other verbal response. The person at the front door will then be able to talk for up to 40 seconds without pressing their button again. However, you will be required to press the Talk button on the WireFree Portable each time you want to talk to them.

After approximately 40 seconds the microphone on the WireFree Wireless Doorbell will turn off and you will not hear anything until the button is pressed again.

Unlike our black WireFree Outdoor Intercom, you cannot make a call to the Wireless Doorbell. Someone must press its Call button before pressing the Talk button on an indoor intercom will work. However, the black WireFree Outdoor Intercom does not have the handsfree, speakerphone-type conversation that this wireless doorbell has.

You have up to 11 WireFree Portable intercoms inside your house and they will all receive the doorbell chime. Whatever unit responds to the chime will set up a secure channel with the door, unless you have your inside units set up in Conference mode. Then everyone can hear.

Other Uses

This unit can be used for caregiving to the elderly or disabled, as long as the person under care can press a button once. The good thing about this unit is the doorbell tone provides a good signal for the caregiver. The downside is that the caregiver can't initiate a call to the unit, but the caregiver is usually healthy enough to walk to the person being cared for.

Since the white outdoor intercom part of this kit is meant for wall mount, there is one easy modification we recommend so it can be used for table top mount. Just go to your local hardware store and ask for the self-adhesive vinyl bumpers that are typically used for keeping your cabinet doors quiet when closing them. Then just stick five of them on the bottom of the outdoor intercom and now you can set it anywhere without having it slide around.

Wireless doorbell and intercom January 20, 2017
Reviewer: Ronald Millican from De Berry , TX United States
Like to have never got it to work on the doorbell part. Finally working but not good. I am still fooling with it to see what the problem is.Very bad static in the speaker when the doorbell is rang.

IntercomsOnline: Make sure to download our programming instructions and use them instead of the ones that come with the unit. The static is likely a range issue so there is something partially blocking the signal or the base is too far away. These are not recommended for stucco houses since these houses have a metal mesh around the outside.

Distance is not what it says January 20, 2017
Reviewer: Jay Walker from Middleton, WI United States
The product states UP to 1,000 feet. We have ours about 250 feet, a couple walls to go through.  I understand that the "Up To" is normally a best case scenario, but I wasn't expecting 1,000 feet meant  on a open field. Was hoping It would work 250 feet, but no go.

IntercomsOnline: When a manufacturer says 1000 feet, open field is exactly what they mean. You will never get similar range with walls in the way and no wall is the same. A wall full of electrical wires will shield more signal that one without. A wall with metal studs will also block signals. That's why we have a 45-day return policy because we can never guarantee a wireless product will work in your application.

Wireless versus Hard wire December 20, 2016

For the price it beats a hard wired intercom for distance. If you have a shorter run and can do it the hard wired one would be better

Would be better if one could initiate voice from the base unit as well. Still, very nice.

Doorbell intercom July 6, 2012

I installed the Call/intercom in a outdoor lamp housing for additional weather protection. Checked out and they work well at 75 feet thru one block wall. Easy to setup and operate.
