When you want to
talk to visitors at your front door without getting out of your
La-Z-Boy recliner, this
WireFree Wireless Doorbell & Intercom unit is for you.
WireFree Wireless Doorbell and Intercom Operation
When someone presses Call button on the WireFree Wireless Doorbell
and Intercom, they will hear a two-tone doorbell tone. A couple of
seconds later, all the WireFree Portable intercoms inside the house
will sound a similar doorbell tone.
You respond by pressing the Talk button on a WireFree Portable and
saying "Hello" or some other verbal response. The person at the
front door will then be able to talk for up to 40 seconds without
pressing their button again. However, you will be required to press
the Talk button on the WireFree Portable each time you want to talk
After approximately 40 seconds the microphone on the WireFree
Wireless Doorbell will turn off and you will not hear anything until
the button is pressed again.
Unlike our black WireFree Outdoor Intercom, you cannot make a call
to the Wireless Doorbell. Someone must press its Call button before
pressing the Talk button on an indoor intercom will work. However, the black WireFree Outdoor Intercom does not have the handsfree,
speakerphone-type conversation that this wireless doorbell has.
You have up to 11 WireFree Portable intercoms inside your house and they will all receive the doorbell chime. Whatever unit
responds to the chime will set up a secure channel with the door, unless you have your inside units set up in Conference mode.
Then everyone can hear.
This unit can be used for caregiving to the elderly or disabled, as
long as the person under care can press a button once. The good
thing about this unit is the doorbell tone provides a good signal
for the caregiver. The downside is that the caregiver can't initiate
a call to the unit, but the caregiver is usually healthy enough to
walk to the person being cared for.
Since the white outdoor intercom part of this kit is meant for wall mount,
there is one easy modification we recommend so it can be used for
table top mount. Just go to your local hardware store and ask for
the self-adhesive vinyl bumpers that are typically used for
keeping your cabinet doors quiet when closing them. Then just stick
five of them on the bottom of the outdoor intercom and now you
can set it anywhere without having it slide around.
