What You Need to Know About Wireless Intercom Systems

IntercomsOnline.com carries two of the most popular wireless intercoms systems on the market. One communicates in the 900 MHz frequency at a range up to 1000 feet and another in the MURS frequency with a range up to four miles.

We don't carry the "wireless" intercoms that communicate over your building wiring. One of these type of products is the Westinghouse Wireless Intercom. We found that returns were much higher on these systems. One problem with them is that they are prone to interference from appliances and electric equipment. The other is that a building's wiring is usually done in two phases and the signal doesn't always cross to the other phase. So they may work fine in half the building, but not the other half.

For more details on the types of wireless intercoms you can read How to Choose A Wireless Intercom System.

A few applications for Wireless Intercom Systems

Our 900MHz wireless intercom is the most featured and economical of the two lines we carry. It can be totally battery powered with a battery life up to two years, or it can be AC powered. It has features such as monitor mode or voice activation mode that our MURS intercom doesn't have.

The MURS wireless intercom is what you need if you need long-range or want to use the intercom in a concrete or metal building. This type of construction greatly reduces the range of a wireless intercom, but in most cases, the MURS wireless intercom will have the power to make it through these walls.
