If you need to mount a camera at remote security gate, parking lot, or other distant location, this wireless network bridge and video camera are a great option. You can even pair these with any of our long-range wireless intercoms for a complete audio and video system.
This system has a range of up to 2500 feet, or even more, if you install it correctly. For optimal placement of the access points it is imperative that you read this article or watch the attached video: How to Do Long Range Video Transmission
This system ties in to you home or business Internet network through a CAT 5 cable between the receiving access point and your network router. Power to the access point is provided through an included PoE (Power over Ethernet) Injector which is not waterproof so it will need to be inside a building or inside a waterproof housing. The access points and camera are already outdoor rated so they do not need a waterproof housing.
On the transmitting camera side, there are two PoE injectors that will either need to be inside a building or inside a waterproof housing.
We provide everything you need except for the three long CAT 5 cables that extend from your network router to the receiving access point, to the camera, and to the transmitting access point. So you will need to purchase these 3 long cables or make them yourself. If you are installing everything outside then you may need the optional waterproof junction box in the Related Products and Accessory section.
Below is a diagram showing the wiring of each access point:
The 2 mega-pixel high-definition camera has a variable focus so you can aim it and adjust it for the perfect view. The camera also has an input for a microphone (not included) so you could also monitor sound at the camera location too.
To monitor the camera location, you can use video surveillance software on a PC that is plugged in to the same network. There are free versions available depending on your needs:
Another option would be to purchase a separate wireless router, or use an old one, and then you can plug the access point directly into it. That will allow you to use tablet PCs or smartphones to monitor the camera. You will need a surveillance app on your device.
