If you have an electric gate opener our systems have the ability to remotely open your gate. You simply connect the intercom via two wires running to your gate, and our they have a relay that provides a switch closure that then activates the gate controller. You will need to select an intercom that has this ability, and if you go with our long-range two-way radio gate intercoms, you will need to make sure the radio or base station you choose has a button to activate the relay in the outdoor gate intercom. Just ask us for help and we will make sure you get the right system.

If you don't just want to talk to people, but you also want to also see them, then you need a video intercom with a camera and audio. There are a couple of ways you can view who is at the gate with these intercoms. One is on some sort of monitor that mounts inside. For wired systems the gate intercom wires to a video monitor. Some systems can have multiple monitors so you can put them in various places throughout a building. We even have a wired system that connects to a wired monitor in the building, but that monitor also connects to Wi-Fi so you can also view and talk to visitors on your smartphone.For wired video intercom systems there are usually distance limitations of around 300 feet of wire, however we do have one system that can go up to 950 feet.
There are a couple types of Wi-Fi intercoms. One requires a good Wi-Fi signal at your gate. So you need a way to get the Wi-Fi signal from your wireless router over to the gate. There are Wi-Fi extenders that can extend the signal several-hundred feet under ideal circumstances. As long as you have a strong signal and good data speed at the gate, then these systems work great.
There are also options for a wired camera intercom at the gate that then connects to a inside monitor that has Wi-Fi connectivity. This gives you the best of both wired and wireless capabilities. You still have a video monitor you can use when you are in the building, but when you leave, or are wandering around, you can use your phone to take calls from the gate.
There is an app that lets you do things like program phone numbers to be called, change intercom features, and change keypad codes (if unit has a keypad). You can also open the gate remotely using the app.
A GSM intercom with video is also available. It uses our WiFi gate intercom but it comes with a GSM cell phone module that can be plugged in to it so it can use wireless cell phone signals.
These are long-range wireless gate intercoms that use two-way radio frequencies to communicate. You can use base station intercoms or handheld two way radios to communicate with the gate intercom. Some of these units have the ability to activate a switch in the gate intercom callbox so it will open the gate from a remote location. These are push-to-talk intercoms and work like a walkie-talkie.
The range of these systems can be up to a mile in open terrain, but if you have dense vegetation or buildings in between then they likely won't work.
These are available in MURS license-free frequencies or UHF business-band frequencies that can match your existing 2-way radios.
These wireless systems have a MUCH longer range than the Mighty Mule systems you may have seen and they are much more of a commercial quality

Wi-Fi Gate Intercom
A Wi-Fi intercom uses a wireless router and Internet connection to send images or video from your gate to an app on your iPhone or Android smartphone. You can also get a tablet PC for inside the building. The advantage of this system is that you don't even need to be home to take calls from your gate. As long as your smartphone has a data connection from your cell phone provider, or the smartphone is connected to the Internet through a Wi-Fi connection, you can see, talk to, and open the gate for visitors from your remote location.There are a couple types of Wi-Fi intercoms. One requires a good Wi-Fi signal at your gate. So you need a way to get the Wi-Fi signal from your wireless router over to the gate. For really long distance gates, it is possible to run a fiber cable to the gate and convert the signal to run over fiber. Some Wi-Fi gate intercoms also allow a hardwired CAT-5 connection so the signal from the fiber can be converted to plug in the the CAT-5 connector on the intercom.
GSM Gate Intercom (Cell Phone Network)
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communication and in the United States that is a technical way of saying AT&T or T-Mobile cell phone networks. A GSM intercom is essentially a cell phone, but in a gate intercom form. It contains a circuit board with a cell phone modem that connects to AT&T or T-Mobile (or any GSM based service in other parts of the world). When visitors arrive they press the button and the intercom calls any telephone number you program in to it (landline or cellphone number). Digital Gate Intercom
We have high-end simultaneous-talk-and-receive-system-with-keypad digital wireless gate intercoms that use 900 Mhz digital transmission. These are a form of two-way radio technology however these have hand-free, full-duplex transmission so people can talk at the same time like a telephone conversation. They also have noise cancellation so they work better in noisy environments. These intercoms consist of a stainless steel intercom that mounts at the gate, and also an inside desk-mount base station intercom. It can reach ranges of up to 4000 feet in ideal conditions.

IP Gate Intercom (CAT-5)
This is a form of wired intercom. IP stands for Internet Protocol and is typically an intercom that hard-wires in to an Ethernet switch that is connected to a data network or VoIP telephone system. The installation of these type of intercoms is best left to information technology (IT) technicians. We do sell an IP intercom that can be used at security gates, truck scales, or other applications but the outdoor intercom has a built-in network server and it runs on its own private network. We simplified installation by creating a programming file that will set up the majority of the system for you so you don't need to be an expert in IP installation.
