Provide two-way communication at your gas station with our Gas Pump Wireless Intercom—an ideal solution for locations where running wires isn’t practical. Designed to comply with state regulations requiring pump-to-attendant communication, this wireless kit supports one gas pump or can be shared between two. Expand your system by adding more callboxes using the options in the Related Products section below.
Easy Installation
Powered by either alkaline batteries or an external power source, this intercom offers flexibility.
If you plan to operate the callboxes on battery power alone, they must remain in Auto Turnoff mode to maximize battery life, which supports approximately 6,000 transmissions. In this mode, the intercoms "sleep" to conserve power and cannot receive incoming calls. However, when a customer presses the button, the callbox instantly activates, enabling two-way communication. Alternatively, if powered by an external 12V DC source, the callbox can be switched out of Auto Turnoff mode into full intercom mode, allowing attendants to initiate calls to the pump.
Multi-Channel Communication Capabilities
The outdoor callboxes utilize MURS (Multi-Use Radio Service) frequencies, which are FCC-license-free, eliminating the need for additional licensing. The MURS standard provides 5 base frequencies, but the system's flexibility allows for expanded communication options through advanced channel management.
Advanced Channel Configuration
The system leverages CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) codes to maximize communication channels. While MURS technically supports five unique frequencies, the addition of privacy codes effectively expands the communication capabilities to 15 distinct channels on our BT1001 Handheld Radio. This innovative approach allows for:
- Selective communication between specific devices
- Reduced interference between multiple callboxes
Practical Implementation
Our BT1001 Dual-Talk handheld radio comes pre-configured with 15 programmable MURS channels (001-015), which can be fully customized to meet your specific operational needs. For example, you can:
- Configure two callboxes on the same frequency using different CTCSS codes
- Assign unique CTCSS codes to each callbox to ensure that only the intended callbox responds to a specific transmission
Communication Flexibility
The system supports multiple communication scenarios:
- Share a single callbox between two pumps
- Individually call out to specific pumps
- Receive calls from up to 15 wireless callboxes across the 5 MURS frequencies
Important Consideration
While the CTCSS codes provide a layer of selective communication, simultaneous transmissions on the same frequency can still potentially cause signal interference. Careful channel management is recommended to ensure clear and reliable communication.

- Standard Flange Mount Hole Pattern Easy Installation. Optional Mounting Brackets Available
- Volume Level. Field programmable or PC programmable to 5 - 100% volume level
- Battery Powered. Can be powered by 3 Alkaline D-cell batteries for 500mW transmit power. D-cell batteries can operate the radio for up to one year or 76000 transmissions
- External Power +12 VDC Capable. Can be powered by an external +12 VDC source. This method of powering the callbox allows the radio to remain ON at all times, like an intercom. Automatic Turn Off must be DISABLED
- Low Battery Alert. The callbox will transmit an Alert Tone at the end of each transmission when the batteries approach end-of-life. This allows sufficient time for you to replace the batteries and assure uninterrupted service. Can also transmit a recorded Low Battery voice message
- +12 VDC Power Fail Alert. This feature can be enabled via Field or PC programming. The callbox will transmit an Alert Tone if it detects loss of +12 VDC power. The radio automatically continues to transmit an Alert Tone once every hour (unless programmed for Automatic Turn Off) until +12 VDC is restored or the batteries are depleted. Can also transmit a recorded Power Fail voice message
- High/Low Power Output. When powered by External +12VDC the callboxes can be Field programmed for High or Low transmitter power output. When battery power the callbox operates in Low power mode exclusively
- -Automatic Turn-Off- or -Intercom- Operation. The Callbox can operate in the standard -Automatic Turn-Off- mode (Factory Default), where the radio is normally OFF until the Call Button is pressed, or can be Field or PC programmed for -Intercom- operation where the radio is always ON. See -External Power +12 VDC Capable- feature above.
