When you order the PA receiver with any of our MURS radios shown in Related Items below, it will arrive pre-programmed to MURS Channel 2 and ready to use. No FCC license is required for MURS operation, so you can put the system to work right out of the box.Which Frequency Should You Use?

Common questions
Can the receiver be installed outdoors?
The receiver's enclosure is not waterproof and must be installed indoors or in a protected space. For outdoor or corrosive environments, use the optional fiberglass-reinforced weatherproof enclosure. The PA speaker itself is indoor/outdoor rated.
Will two-way radios interfere with the PA speaker?
Using two-way radios in close proximity to the PA speaker can cause feedback. The system operates on a dedicated channel to keep routine radio traffic from broadcasting over the PA, and the receiver can be set to Record-and-Play mode to capture and replay messages cleanly once you stop talking.
Is there a limit on message length?
In Record-and-Play mode, recorded messages are capped at 20 seconds, with the option to auto-repeat the message 1–4 times.
What happens during a power outage?
The receiver runs on standard 110V AC with an optional rechargeable backup battery for temporary outages. For extended off-grid use, it can run on a heavy-duty external +12VDC battery or an optional solar panel kit (see Related Items below).
Can I extend the range?
Yes — installing an optional external antenna at a higher mounting point significantly extends receive range.
Does this work with my existing two-way radios?
It's compatible with analog business-band 2-way radios on the matching VHF or UHF frequency, and a DMR digital (Tier 2) version is available. Not sure if your radios match? Contact us with your radio model before ordering.
