When a visitor presses the call button, a warbling tone is transmitted to all two-way radios or base station intercoms tuned to the same channel. If the unit is operating in battery-powered mode, it will automatically activate to allow two-way communication. After a period of inactivity, the callbox returns to sleep mode and cannot be contacted again until the button is pressed by another visitor. For continuous operation in full intercom mode—where the unit remains active at all times—an optional cable and a 12-volt power supply are required (see Related Items).
