In most cases, this programming kit is not required. A free basic programming software is available for download. However, if you need to program a callbox to a specific frequency and privacy code that is not listed in the callbox’s pre-set frequency tables, you have two options:
- Request our programming service, and we will program it for you.
- Use this programming kit to program it yourself.

Important Programming Limitations
- If a radio is PC-programmed with non-table frequencies, it cannot be changed through field programming. Instead, code 999 will appear when attempting to read out the settings.
- MURS models (per FCC regulations) cannot be programmed to custom frequencies, even with the full-access programmer.
- Canadian models (per IC regulations) cannot be programmed to custom frequencies, even with the full-access programmer.

Additional Requirements for Free Software
Before using the free software, ensure you have:
- A USB to Mini B 5-pin cable (Check if you already have one, or purchase cable RT1003.)
- A PC with Windows XP or newer and a USB port.
Limitations of the Free Basic Software
- No custom transmit frequencies – You can only select from the preset Table Frequency List.
- No access to radio fine-tuning controls.
For full access to all programming features, including custom frequency programming (where permitted), the PC Programming Kit is required.
