Power Line Communication (PLC) is a technology that enables data transmission over electrical power lines. By integrating FM with PLC, an FM Wireless Power Line Intercom can send and receive audio signals through the existing electrical infrastructure of a building. This eliminates the need for additional wiring, reducing installation costs and complexity.
In ideal circumstances these intercoms can work well, but there are frequent problems when they have to cross "phases" in an electrical panel. The electrical feed into your house is 220 volts and is split into two phases of 110 volts. Crossing these phases is what has caused these intercoms to fall out of favor in later years, and for the most part, they are obsolete.
