Three ways to activate a call:
- Press a button on the scale house phone — the outdoor unit auto-answers, no driver action needed.
- Connect an optical sensor to the call box to auto-call the scale phone when a truck pulls up — you just answer.
- The driver presses a button on the call box directly (less common, since mirrors often block easy reach).
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this intercom work without an internet connection?
Yes. The system can operate entirely independently of your network, so a network outage won't take down scale communication. It can also integrate with your network for remote operation if preferred.
How loud is this compared to a standard intercom?
The base unit runs a 10-watt Class D amplifier, and the included 20-watt amplified horn speaker adds significantly more volume for high-noise environments — well beyond what a typical drive-thru-style intercom puts out.
Will drivers need to press a button to talk?
No. The system supports full-duplex, hands-free operation — when a call comes in, it auto-answers, so drivers just speak.
Can this be made wireless?

How durable is it in outdoor conditions?
The faceplate is 3mm stainless steel (AISI 316L), rated IP-66, and operates from -30°C to 70°C (-22°F to 158°F).
What if it doesn't work for me?
We have a 45-day trial period so you can verify that it works for you. However, we are confident that we will never see it come back.
How hard is this to install?
We will preprogram the system so all you need to do is physically mount the scale intercom, run CAT-5 or 6 cable, and plug everything into a POE switch. There is also a built-in web-based admin panel if you need to make simple changes.
Can this be used for multiple truck scale lanes?
Yes! One inside phone can handle up to 32 lanes. You can also add more inside phones to help manage the lanes. You will just need a larger POE switch.
Can I use this on our network from a remote location?
Yes! These are standard SIP compatible devices so they can be programmed to work on your network.
