A gas station intercom is a form of public address system, designed for a store or booth attendant to communicate with the drivers or pedestrians at a station's fuel pumps or car wash service area. The systems provide two-way voice communication, often using weatherproof call stations mounted at fuel pumps, on the building's front door or in the car wash service area. Station intercoms are used to improve customer service, safety and efficiency. Store or booth attendants can assist customers, provide instructions, or respond to problems and emergencies without having to leave the protected interior of the building or service booth. Fuel pump intercom systems may be required by state code.

Gas Station Intercom FAQs

Q: I need a wireless intercom system for a gas station in Chicago. What do you recommend?
A: The KT1003 Wireless Gas Station Intercom Kit is recommended:

Q: Can one receiver work with multiple outdoor units in the MURS Gas Station Intercom system?
A: Yes. Multiple outdoor units can call into multiple indoor units. You can assign the same channel for simultaneous alerts or use different channels with base stations that scan, allowing targeted communication. The RT1014 base station has scanning capability.

Q:
What intercom system is best for marine/outdoor use at a gas dock or tackle shop?
A: We recommend the RT1101 for outdoor use and the DA1006 for indoor communication. A complete kit like the Ritron Q-Series with base station is also available and sufficient on its own.

Q: Do you have a controller and 8 wireless call boxes for a gas station, and does each call box need its own controller?
A: Yes, the KT1003 and RT1100 system fits this need. The RT1014 base intercom receives calls from all call boxes. Each call box sleeps until activated, so only the calling unit communicates with the base. Call boxes are available in black (RT1101).

Q: What wireless two-way communication system can support 10 gas pumps and an office with individual communication?
A: You can use the RT1100 or RT1101 callboxes with the RT1146 handheld radio. These operate on MURS frequencies (5 available). Each callbox can be set to a frequency with a unique privacy code, though only one callbox per frequency can transmit at a time. The handheld can scan up to 16 channels to receive incoming calls and must be switched to the correct channel to call out to a specific pump. Callboxes require a 12V DC power source and cannot run on battery mode since they would sleep until a call button is pressed.

Q: Can I get an intercom for a gas station with 10 outside speakers?
A: Yes, you can add multiple outside intercoms, but they cannot be called individually. If pump-to-office calls are all that matter, place them on the same channel. Alternatively, use a wired system or share one call box between two pumps.
