Wireless Callbox FAQs
A: No. The DMR Wireless Callbox will emit any transmission it receives on the programmed channel and privacy code. To prevent guests from eavesdropping, security should use a different frequency or change the privacy code.
A: Compatibility depends on whether the R5 and R7 radios support DMR. If they are DMR-compatible, the callboxes will work. It is best to confirm with Motorola for certainty.
A: Yes. The DMR Digital Callbox UHF 450–470 MHz is compatible with Motorola’s Mototrbo DMA systems. It supports single-frequency operation but can also be configured with separate transmit and receive frequencies for repeaters.
A: You will need to match both the frequency and privacy code used by your company. This may require programming software and a cable, or you can request that we program this into the callbox so it will work with your radios.
A: You must press the button on the callbox to initiate communication. When the button is pressed, it sends a tone to the receiving radios, enabling two-way push-to-talk communication.
Q: Where can I find the setup video for the RT1101 MURS Weatherproof Intercom System – Black?
A: The unit is preprogrammed to
channel 1, so no setup video is needed. Simply set your radios to MURS
channel 1 to begin using the system.
Q: Do you have an outdoor wireless system that supports multiple call boxes?
A: Yes. The RT1095 and RT1101 models
can be used outdoors with multiple call boxes. They can all be set to
the same channel or use up to five available MURS channels.
Specifications are available via the blue download button on each
product page.
A: A wireless MURS system like the RT1101 paired with an indoor MURS intercom (RT1014) is recommended. Stainless steel provides added durability, and five units remain in stock.
Q: What
wireless or wired intercom system is recommended for a door with
receivers in two separate offices in a concrete building where unlocking
the door is not needed?
A: The RT1101 wireless intercom with RT1014 MURS Commercial Wireless Intercom receivers
are recommended, but wireless performance through concrete is not
guaranteed. Intercoms Online offers a 45-day trial period for testing.
If wireless is unsuitable, the recommended wired option is the AP1042 Single
Door Access System with one door station and two master stations, which
does not include wiring or built-in battery backup.
Q: What solution can connect a
loading dock intercom to an office several hundred yards away, and is
there a handheld option too?
A: The RT1101 weatherproof intercom at the dock communicates with the
RT1014 base intercom in the office over that distance. For portable use,
the BT1001 handheld radio is compatible.
Q: Does the RT1100 intercom communicate with MURS handheld walkie talkies?
A: Yes.
The RT1100 is a MURS callbox so it works with MURS handheld walkie
talkies. Refer to the “How to Build a System” graphic on the RT1100 or RT1101 callbox product page for details on compatible devices.
Q: Can the MURS Callbox system use an external antenna to improve range between indoor and outdoor units?
A: Yes. All MURS callboxes can use external antennas. For better range, use the RT1014 base
station with an outdoor antenna such as the model listed at
https://www.intercomsonline.com/murs-outdoor-antenna . Mounting the
antenna on top of a building for line-of-sight will further improve
performance.
A: They can be pre-programmed if you provide the frequency and privacy code. Otherwise, a programming kit is needed, which is user-friendly.
A: You need to provide the transmit/receive frequency and the privacy code used by your radios. For example, TX/RX: 462.7125 MHz and privacy code D246. This information should be added in the order comments to ensure proper programming.
Q: Can you provide a quote for a two-way radio system with three locations, two radios, one outdoor callbox, and external power supply, and are they upgradable with warranties?
A: Yes. The RT1101 outdoor callbox (no door unlock) can be paired with handheld radios like the BT1001. External power can be used by adding the optional power cable and supply. The system is upgradable if the correct callbox with gate relay is chosen. All units have a one-year warranty and are designed to last for years.
A: Yes, multiple call boxes can communicate with a central base radio if they are all set to the same frequency and privacy code. For example, four elevator call boxes can connect to a single base station.
A: A solar panel kit is available in Related Items and requires an auxiliary power cable. All solar power systems have rechargeable batteries. Kits with solar are not sold; purchase is by individual components—callbox and radio kit, power cable, and solar panel. A walkie talkie or base station intercom is needed for the home end. The callbox is battery powered unless solar powered.
A: Yes, they will work together when set to channel 1. The call box is preprogrammed to channel 1. This setup allows communication between dock, office, and floor operator. Range depends on the environment, but 300 feet indoors should work unless walls block the signal. External antennas are also available.

A: There is no limit. Any number of two-way radios can be paired with a MURS call box as long as they are set to the same channel. Intercoms are pre-programmed to channel 1.
A: The RT1013 has been replaced with the RT1116, which includes a gate-opening button compatible with RT1095 and RT1096 call boxes. It will work with your current setup. The BT1001 is also compatible for voice communication only but does not include a gate-opening button.
A: No. IntercomsOnline’s 2-way radio callboxes are weather-sealed and battery-powered but not rated as intrinsically safe. Currently, there are no intrinsically safe intercom models available.
A: All emergency call boxes require some form of phone or Internet service. If you only need to communicate a short distance a 2-way radio callbox like the RT1101 could work. Or if you have Wi-Fi you could use a Wi-Fi intercom like the IO1094.
Q: Can multiple base station intercoms or call boxes be connected to call from one unit to all others?
A: Yes, multiple base station intercoms or call boxes can be interconnected to allow one unit to call all others simultaneously, provided they are all operating on the same frequency. There is no set limit to how many can be connected this way.
